On 20 April 2022 the Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania (RTCL) has made a decision to suspend the free reception of 32 Gazprom-Media controlled television programs in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.

On 24 February 2022 the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States of America has adopted a directive imposing restrictive financial measures on the joint-stock company of the Russian Federation GAZPROMBANK. This company owns the holding company Gazprom-Media (ОАО Газпром-Медиа) in the Russian Federation, which controls 32 television programs that are currently retransmitted or distributed on the Internet in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.

GAZPROMBANK is the owner of television programs that are directly or indirectly retransmitted or distributed in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania. It is included in the list of organizations subject to OFAC sanctions. Therefore, telecommunication operators or Internet distributors operating in Lithuania run a direct or indirect risk of violating OFAC's sanctions when concluding program distribution agreements and executing payments and other transactions related to the distribution of television programs. In addition, the RTCL considers that the retransmission or distribution on the Internet of such television programs, the owners of which are subject to OFAC sanctions, is not in the national security interests of the Republic of Lithuania.

Taking this into account and in order to protect telecommunication operators and distributors of television programs on the Internet from possible violation of OFAC sanctions and the related financial risk, the RTCL decided to suspend the retransmission or distribution on the Internet of the following television programs in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania: Avto Plius, BOKS TV, HDL, INDIYSKOYE KINO, KINOKOMEDIYA, KINOMIKS KINOSERIYA, Kukhnya TV, KVN TV, Kto yest  kto, La Minor TV, KHL TV channel, M-1 Global, Muzhskoye kino, Nashe novoe kino, Nostalgiya, NTV Mir, NTV Pravo, NTV Serial, NTV Stilj, Piatnica, Piatnica InternationaL, RODNOYE KINO, Russkaya Noch, TB-3, THT, THT Comedy, THT International, THT Music, ZEE TV, Zhivi!, Malysh-TV.
