Agreement on Cooperation Signed with Armenian Counterparts

On 9 June 2022 the Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania (hereinafter referred to as the RTCL) has signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of regulation of audiovisual media services with the Armenian Television and Radio Commission (ATRC).

Mr. Tigran Hakobyan, the chairman of the ATRC and International Relations specialist Alla Tumanyan arrived to sign the agreement. The Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Lithuania Hovhannes Igityan, expressed interest in cooperation and participated in the signing of this document. The guests were received by Mr. Rimantas Bagdzevičius, the chairman of the RTCL, his deputy Ričardas Slapšys, and the staff of the administration. The RTCL specialists shared their experience in the procedures for the suspension of the Russian-language propaganda television channels in Lithuania, the legal basis, the means of protecting copyright on the Internet, etc.

The colleagues from Armenia spoke about the problems they face in their work - lack of experience, pressure from political structures, and stressed that they would like to use Lithuania's experience, get acquainted with the RTCL’s funding model, its independence guarantee, monitoring system and get a better understanding of international and European Union law in general.

The further course of cooperation was discussed during the meeting. It was decided to organize trainings and seminars at least once a year, to exchange specialists on both sides and to consult on the regulation of audiovisual media services.
