The Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) will share practical experience with a delegation from Dutch institutions on how to strengthen the resilience of the information environment and respond effectively to modern information threats.

During the visit, the LRTK will host representatives from the Dutch Ministries of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, Justice and Security, Defence, and Foreign Affairs, who work in the areas of democracy-building, national security, and information space policy. The delegation also includes an OECD expert from Lithuania and a representative of the National Crisis Management Centre.

“A large portion of information threats today originates on social media, where content spreads extremely quickly and often without clear accountability. Therefore, combating disinformation requires not only a response but also constant monitoring and the ability to identify risks promptly. By sharing our experience with partners, we aim to strengthen our collective resilience to information threats,” says Andrius Katinas, Head of the Monitoring Department at LRTK.

During the meetings, the main focus will be on the experience LRTK has gained in strengthening the resilience of the information environment — from combating disinformation and evaluating social media content to overseeing audiovisual media and platforms and implementing European Union sanctions in the information space, including the control of restricted content and broadcasters.

In 2025, the LRTK actively worked with online platforms, initiated the removal of illegal content, and responded to the spread of disinformation on social media. In just one year, platforms were contacted regarding dozens of cases, and some accounts and content were removed.

It is expected that this visit will contribute to closer cooperation between institutions and concrete solutions that strengthen resilience to information threats at both the national and European levels.
