Hundreds of websites that illegally offer movies and television programs will be blocked in Lithuania.

This decision was made by the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) after receiving authorisation from the Regional Administrative Court. Internet service providers are required to block access to these websites via DNS blocking within 5 days.

The LRTK determined that the operators of these platforms were conducting their activities without notifying the authorities in accordance with the procedure established by law. This means that they were operating illegally for Lithuanian consumers.

The list of blocked websites includes well-known movie and TV series platforms, such as “123movies,” “Soap2day,” and other similar sites.

Users attempting to access them will be redirected to the informational page stop.rtk.lt.

“This is a consistent measure against the illegal distribution of content online. Such platforms operate by circumventing regulations and harm the legal market,” says LRTK Chairman Mantas Martišius.

According to LRTK data, in 2025 alone, seven decisions were issued to block access to 327 websites operating illegally. This indicates that the illegal distribution of content online is a systemic problem.

The Commission emphasises that access is restricted only to websites that violate the law and fail to comply with mandatory requirements.
