The Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania suspends Russian propaganda TV channel Mir and blocks 57 websites

The Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania (hereinafter – the RTCL) having established that the violations identified on the Russian Federation television channel Mir manifestly and seriously infringe the requirements of Paragraph 1 of Article 19 of the Law on Public Information of the Republic of Lithuania, i. e. instigate war and disseminate war propaganda, on 9 March 2022  adopted a decision to suspend the free reception of the retransmitted and / or distributed on Internet television channel “Mir” in the Republic of Lithuania for five years.

Besides that, the RTCL issued mandatory instructions to Internet access service providers to block access to 57 web sites, which were carrying out illegal activities without registering and notifying the RTCL in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts, as well as were disseminating disinformation, war propaganda and instigation of war.
