The Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania (LRTK) has contacted TikTok regarding the account @kartumesnenugalimi, which, according to the Commission, had been publishing content that may violate Lithuanian law. Following LRTK’s request, TikTok informed the Commission that access to the account had been restricted for users in Lithuania.

According to the LRTK, the account regularly shared content featuring Russian and Soviet symbols, pro-Russian narratives, and messages that, in the current geopolitical context, could be seen as undermining Lithuania’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while promoting Russian imperial narratives.

The Commission also noted that some of the posts publicly displayed Soviet symbols, the public display and distribution of which are prohibited under Lithuanian law.

In its communication with TikTok, the LRTK requested that the platform:

  • remove the account @kartumesnenugalimi;
  • provide information that could help identify the person operating the account.

This is not the first time the Commission has approached TikTok over potentially unlawful content. In the past, the LRTK has contacted the platform regarding disinformation, coordinated inauthentic activity, hate speech, and content harmful to minors.

The Commission emphasizes that under the Digital Services Act (DSA), online platforms are required to respond promptly to reports of illegal content, ensure transparency, and take effective measures to protect users.
